Dampness in walls can be caused by a variety of factors :- Rising Damp:- Lack of damp proof course (usually in older buildings) Damaged damp proof course caused by structural movement etc Bridged damp proof course caused by raised ground levels extenslly or raised floor levels internally. Penetrating Damp:- Causes leaking roofs, gutterings, and down pipes, cracked or missing pointing, and masonary faults. Condensation:- This is normally caused by a lack of Ventilation this can be made worse by blocking up air vents, Lack of air extractors in areas like bathrooms and kitchens, Human activities can also contribute to the problem ie:- drying clotes indoors etc. The problem needs correct diagnosis and the correct remedial treatment implemented.
