This service exsists to provide Befrienders for young people who are in the process of leaving the care system. After training volunteers are matched up with a young person and work on a one to one basis. Volunteers and young people engage in, mainly social activities as this reduces isolation and builds up confidence. The scheme operates throughout The Northern Health Trust area which covers outer Belfast to The North Coast, Cookstown and Magherafelt. Enquiries are welcome from anyone above the age of eighteen who likes working with young people. Volunteers are paid travel expenses and most of the social activities are funded.
