I am a storyteller based in Elland, West Yorkshire. I have over 25 years teaching experience in Primary and Special Educational Needs Education and am also a member of the Society for Storytelling. I currently hold two storytelling sessions on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 10 am to 11.30 am for 0 to 4 year olds as well as providing story telling sessions in schools, nurseries and libraries for children up to Key Stage 2. I have also recently started providing Drama Workshops for children aged 6 to 12 years old. The storytelling sessions are interactive using drama, role play and songs to tell stories based on a wide range of themes and ideas and are held in an inviting and stimulating environment which is aimed to make reading fun, engaging, exciting and above all to help children and their grown ups develop a life long love of books and reading. The sessions offer children and their grown ups,lots of opportunities to share, tell and read together. This is a great way to help children develop a range of important skills such as self confidence, imagination, and improved vocabulary and memory skills, all of which goes towards helping pre-school children become 'school-ready'. Shared story telling also provides the grown ups with the confidence and skills to better help develop their little ones reading skills. Above all it's fun!
