Rag and Bone van@Northwest Textiles Recycling Ltd have launched their innovative and exciting projec within the Old Swan, West Derby and Tuebrook area. The Rag and Bone Van has recieved public acclaim for its innovation and the positive impact it has had on the community. Our Rag and Bone Van is fully signed and fitted with a tannoy system, much like an Ice cream van. On entering a public residence it plays “Any Old Iron” to make the public aware of its presence. The public then make our drivers aware that they have bags of clothes to sell and also old electronics to recycle. Drivers and assistants are dressed in authentic period costume to bring a well loved old tradition back to the streets of Liverpool. Community groups, private residents, church groups, schools and businesses alike can now take part in our Rag and Bone service, earning cash for clothes and CRT televisions whilst also recycling their old iron and scrap electronics. This initiative goes back to our roots, not everything which is modern is best! The Rag and Bone men of Liverpool at the turn of the century would have met up with the Environment Agencies recycling agenda with ease, concentrating on reuse first and foremost.
