Magdalena Portmann teaches the Alexander Technique in central Lewes. In one-to-one Alexander Technique lessons, pupils become aware of harmful habitual behaviour patterns and learn do things with a minimum of effort and tension, leading to increased physical and mental well-being. Alexander Technique can help people who suffer with - muscle tension and stiffness - back pain - poor posture - anxiety and stress-related conditions - RSI. People use the Alexander Technique to improve performance and prevent injury in music, drama and sport. The technique also helps increase confidence and develop ease and lightness in movement. What makes the Alexander Technique unique is that it can be applied to any activity, mental or physical. It can be applied to mundane everyday activities (chopping carrots, driving, walking) or to academic work and interpersonal activities. The Technique is also usefully applied to acting and sports.
